"Press to roll" Dice Tower - 3 sizes

My take on a dice tower that tries to bring something new to the "table", with a press-to-roll function.

Okay, first of, thanks for clicking.

When I first learned about a dice tower competition, I felt inspired to design one. However, I initially hesitated, thinking I couldn’t bring anything new to the table. That’s until a coworker approached me with an interesting request: to build him a dice tower that could hold multiple dice and roll them all together with the press of a button. And so I began.

Short introduction on how to operate the dice tower.

  • Large and Standard size
    The tower has 6 compartments that can hold a number of dice, you can press the button quickly (Little learning curve), to roll one dice, or hold it down, to roll all dice in the compartment. Furthermore both sizes comes with a hole in the middle so you can roll dices without putting them in a compartment first, just like a normal dice tower.
    If you are using some smaller dice like a 4 sided or something, you can use the insert in the dice compartments, so the button presses will be more consistent.
  • Compact size
    Throw dice in at top, dice roll out at the bottom :O (surprised Pikachu face).

The dice tower comes in 3 versions, and have 2 different tray types.

      Dice towers

  • Large size (30cm), largest dice compartments, and “Press to roll” function.
  • Standard size (25cm), Medium dice compartments, and “Press to roll” function.
  • Compact size(18cm), No dice compartments, and no “Press to roll” function (Traditional style dice tower, that you can later upgrade).

      Tray styles

  • Large (About the size of a MK3 and MK4 print bed roughly 23x23cm) that the tower can stand in and surrounds the tower.
  • Compact (12,5x12,5cm) can be stored under the tower for transport/storage, and the be placed in front of the tower, when used. 
  • No tray (About 0cm ;) ) You don't necessarily need to print a tray if you already have one or don't want to use one.

My recommendations is a Standard tower, with a compact tray, and is the ones in the photo.

OBS!!! If you are gonna print the Large or Standard tower, you WILL need some small 7mm push springs for the mechanism to work.

These are my recommendations for print settings.

  • Infill only needs to be about 5% on all models, I used adaptive cubic for the infill.
  • 2 layers of parameters was good for me.
  • If you can, print it in a material with good bridge capability like PLA, but I used PETG.
  • For support, I recommend organic when used.

I don't know if I should upload Gcode, as I'm not sure, what you want to print in, and what printer you use, but tell me if you want it, and I will upload one. 

All you will need for parts that can not be 3d printed, is 6 push springs with a inner diameter of 7mm, and for the height, 16mm worked really well.

Of Course all of them can be used without the mechanism, and just function as a dice tower, so if you don't have any springs at the moment of print, you can always add them later, and still use it.
