In sidemount diving, we attach the long hose's second stage regulator to the right shoulder D-ring using a small snap-bolt. Relying on permanent fixtures such as nylon lines would deprive the diver from detaching the long hose fast when it's most needed: in an out-of-gas (OOG) situation. We often use a cable tie and a small rubber O-ring as sacrificial pieces to create a makeshift breakaway fixture. However, once it's been used, one must finish the dive without the ability to clip the second stage to the D-ring.
This custom plastic piece would facilitate the creation of a reusable, yet easily detachable, breakaway fixture.
I recommend using 40% Resione F68 and 60% Resione K resin for the material. You need something durable yet not too elastic and not brittle. This is suitable for SLS printing, though you may achieve good results with TPU and 100% infill on FFM printers.
… and yes, I am releasing the CAD file, so you don't have to ask for it.
You are welcome.
