K1 Max Magnetic Door Seal

***Update 6/11/24: Re-designed to fit the newest hinge. The old design is still available for those that are still using it. I also made the seals fit flush everywhere on the updated design.***

***This currently only fits the K1 Max. When I have time, I will make changes so it fits the K1 as well. If you've got CAD skills, I've attached the STEP files. Feel free to make changes if the fit isn't exactly what you were looking for.***

I just started printing more with ABS and wanted a way to cover the crack on the front of the K1 Max. I figured the best way to do that would be with a seal of some sort. Because I want to be able to jump back and forth from ABS and other materials like PLA or TPU where I want maximum airflow; I needed for the seal to be easily reversible.

PRINTING:

     -I printed everything in ABS but that only because I was to lazy to break out the TPU. I suppose this could probably be printed in anything PETG or higher. 

     -Because the magnets are press fit, the tolerances for that portion are EXTREMELY tight. I've included the step files for everything in case you need to go in and adjust anything. 

HARDWARE:

     -You will need twelve 10mm by 3mm magnets. Here are the magnets I used: https://amzn.to/4gARtPe

     -3M Double Sided Tape (Optional): https://amzn.to/3BUu2Bh

POST PROCESSING:

     -Wait for prints to fully cool before taking off the build plate to avoid warping.

     -When press fitting the magnets, be mindful of their polarity.

     -If using 3M tape, there is a small cut out for where the tape should go on the Center Stop. The center stop will self align once you've placed the Top and Bottom Seals into position. 

     -***If using 3M tape, You will need to place a small piece of 3M tape over the magnets to secure them in place at the top and the bottom, just above and below the Nut Traps of the hinges. I wouldn't suggest doing this method, I would suggest downloading the magnetic nut trap remix found under the hinged gears models. LINK BELOW *** 

Optional BUT SUGGESTED Magnetic Nut Trap:

     -I made a remix to the Nut trap of Mordiev's design. This Nut trap will allow you to automatically align the seals where they need to go.
