Temecula 96: A Keychron K4 Re-case

Its a case to replace the one on your K4. Transfer the battery at your own risk. I suggest buying a new one.

Description

Print the foot out of TPU unless you have a very sticky desk mat. Uses 10 M3x8 screws to hold it all together. I suggest tapping the holes in the inner chassis.

Models are pre split, just pop them apart in your slicer.

Prints extremely well, was able to print the foot and the inner chassis all in one go, then the two halves of the outer cage in two prints.

Unless you want to just burn filament, the weight is not needed. Just print with 100% infill and it'll be solid.

It thocks.

Render shows blue TPU feet, but they ended up being impractical to print and use. Just make the whole foot out of TPU if you want friction. It'll add more thock. Heck print everything but the outer cage out of TPU at 100% infill and it'll sound like a bag of flour being dropped on pavement with each keystroke (assuming you got the board with the browns).

Oh another disclaimer, the switches are hidden by the case once installed, so make sure you have them set to your preferred OS and connection type prior to inserting the PCB into the case. I know that'll be a dealbreaker for some, but the reality is most people set it once and forget it, unless they travel with their keyboard.. in which case set it to bluetooth before putting it in the case. This design put aesthetics above all else, including some functionality ;)
