This dice tower round I wanted to participate, but I wanted to make a dice tower in vase mode for low filament usage (72g) and for the additional challenge of designing such a tower with the limitations that come with vase mode. I am quite happy with the result :)

The small roof is also is the lid for a tube in the center to store dice. AD&D dice should also fit.

The model consists of 3 parts, the main body, the lid and the top floor plate (and admittedly the latter one is not printed in vase mode…)

Printing:

Tower and roof

  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 0.4mm or 0.6mm nozzle
  • spiral vase mode
  • advanced → external perimeters: 0.7mm
  • advanced → slice gap closing radius: 0.01mm
  • I like archimedean chords or octagram spiral for bottom infill
  • depending on your external perimeter speed setting you can speed up the print by setting filament settings → cooling → “slow down if print layer time is below:” to, say,  5 seconds. Total print time can be below 3h (depending on printer capabilities).

Top floor plate: normal mode, 0.2mm layer height

There is one relatively long bridge at the top of the door; if it hangs loose (maybe even blocking dice), cut it off with some craft knife etc.
