Product Info

Ever wanted to test your butterfly knife tricks without injury? How about practicing before the real thing? Here is a butterfly comb you can print for practicing tricks in the shape of a comb!

Don't want a comb blade? See my model called Balisong attachments to have more variety of blades, all compatible with my comb!

Printing

To print this, make sure you place the handles on their bottoms for stable printing as shown in the image gallery. A brim is optional for the handles for extra stability, but the comb will print better without a brim for cleaning purposes. Use solid infill on all designs for best weight application and durability. Organic Supports are only truly required for the handles because of the ball joint.

Assembly

To assemble, please have a hair dryer or a heat gun, with a pair of pliers because assembling is hot. Caution, please have supervision if you are younger when putting together in case of burning yourself.

Apply heat from the hair dryer or the heat gun on the ball joint area on the handles for 30 seconds to a minute, depending on how intense you apply heat.

After plastic is malleable, spread apart the joints slightly with a pair of pliers or your hands if you can't feel pain. Fasten the blade on and hold together the joints on the blade, then apply water for faster solidification. Repeat this for the second handle, make sure you do not flip the handles, or you may have to redo this process!

Replacing the blade

If you break your blade by some cause, use the same tools to remove the broken blade or handle, and apply new parts as you would with the original assembly.

For extra convenience, I would recommend printing multiple blades ready to be used in case your comb blade would break in the future.

.bgcode

This file is only for the Prusa mini/mini+ and uses the slightly tighter handle version. The only other thing to not is that it is solid infill.

Have fun flipping around, and do not bring this where butterfly knives are Illegal.

Update 5/7/2024

I uploaded a modified handle file that is slightly tighter for the purpose of the blade being more fit.

Update 1/3/2025

New handle added, makes the blade more snug and easier to release.
