I really liked the design cues, separate pieces and assembly process of Sedak's design, but any modification I wanted to do besides resizing was really cumbersome because of the files given. So I took some measurements and remade the entire geometry in CAD software, while also modifying certain pieces and dimensions. All in all, the specific changes are as follows:
- Scaled to 75% of original size (except for the head plate)
- Remade the whole head plate since most of the piece was just hanging on top of my head without being supported, so the extra geometry felt unnecessary
- Combined the center stone base and the center stone cap pieces into one. I found the thin walls of the base were prone to failure when fitting all the pieces together. Plus it made sense to me to simplify the amount of parts
- Remade the whole geometry of the piece for easier modification
- Changed the shape of the wing pieces, making them thinner at the edges for a sleeker look
- Changed the snap fit system to a press fit one. It may be my filament but I found the snap fit pieces to break off easily. The final piece still stays together but I recommend glue and maybe a few filament tack welds if possible.
- Exported the files to a step format so it's easier to use in any CAD software and make further modifications
