You like dice? Take a look at my Dungeons and Dragons Collection

Why you need this in your life

Have you ever cast the iconic spell fireball in D&D? If so, I'm sure you went nuts when rolling 8d6 or more for damage. But let's be honest, the dice falling into your dice tray just don't do this spell justice. We need them to go boom, like really, with a loud sound and everything. Now what if I told you that you don't need to search any further, I've got the perfect solution to a problem you didn't have a minute ago ;-)

This contraption is designed to work with 12mm dice, and you can roll a maximum of 14 in one go, since that is the damage of a 9th level fireball. If you don't have 12mm dice, you might have to buy some. Let's be honest, if you're printing a dice rolling machine that specific, adding a few new dice to that won't make a difference; it's already ridiculous.

Demonstration

Print Infos

Print all the parts according to the .3mf files. There are three versions of the floor. One for inserted hex nuts (pause during the print), one for threaded inserts and one to screw directly into the printed part. Since I did not have enough inserts when I printed it, I used hex nuts.

Assembly

You'll need 14 M3x12mm screws for the assembly. If you chose the Floor_INS, you will need 14 M3x5.7 threaded inserts as well. To help reduce friction, I used some of Prusa's lubricant, but that's not strictly necessary.

Prepare all the parts.

Insert the 14 screws into the base. If they fit really snug and don't fall out, you are going to have it easier later on.

Insert the hub into the center hole. This will feel very loose, but that is intentional.

Turn the whole base so that it's facing the right side up.

Now you can prepare the catapults with some lubricant like shown here.

And put them into position like so. It's easiest to insert them into the hub first and then onto the screw.

Repeat with all 14 catapults.

Make sure to align the floor to the base correctly and put it in place.

Tighten all the screws. You don't need to go full force here.

Put the handle in place.

And position all the dice on the launch platforms. You can push down on the handle slightly to make sure they are well positioned. Just don't turn it yet, or you will cast the fireball in your face like a wild magic sorcerer.

Make it go BOOOM!!!

If you are playing with grid maps or OpenForge tiles where one inch on the map represents 5ft in game, you can use the blast shield to tell your DM where exactly you are about to nuke the enemies.

Don't forget to put the blast shield in its place before activating!
