Half Cubes Cube Puzzle
Assemble the Half Cubes pieces into a 4 x 4 x 4 cube.
What is different about this puzzle release?
Each block is centered on a 12.5 mm grid, but is reduced by a 0.1 mm ‘play’ on each edge. This allows pieces to easily fit together without binding. See my blog post for more details on this and some puzzle reference links.
My 4 x 4 x 4 puzzles are slightly smaller than the 15 mm 3 x 3 x 3 puzzles so that the assembled puzzles are close in size.
Why are there two base and cage parts?
What are the holes on the base and cage for?
There are two versions of the base and cage parts. The two parts with the small holes are designed to accept very small 2 mm diameter by 1 mm thick magnets. They are sized so that a single magnet can be press fit in the hole. I use a small rubber tipped hammer to secure them in place. A tiny amount of super glue can also be used.
Printing Notes
I typically use 10% infill and four top and bottom layers for consistency. Print the cage upside down (as it appears in the .stl file) as it only needs minimal bridging.
More cube puzzles will be coming soon. Follow me here or watch my blog for updates.
