IDLER PIN MOD - OEM EDDITION!

After adding my other PIN MOD - for my lightweight PIN XY Joints

I wanted to bring this to the people running the standard gantry XY joints! Ensuring that everyone can use these without modding too much.
So I set about making it work in the smaller form factor and they turned out really nicely!
I hope you will enjoy these.
In addition these will also help seal your chamber from draughts better than the standard idlers!

But why use pins instead of the provided screws?

• Mechanically the Pins will have a much closer dimension to the bearings inner race so reducing free play in the motion system.
• It also removes the possibility of over tightening the Bearing Stack and causing drag on the motion system.
• But I think mostly it is for kudos!

Extra's required are…

2 off 20mm long x 3mm dia silver steel rod

ALL the fixings will be used as per the regular OEM setup

The Bearing stacks have been moved back 10mm to allow for the OEM fixing points on the front of the idler (lets face it, that threaded hole in the extrusion is too good to waste!) 
this also means we have reduced the overall belt length by 20mm so after install is complete you will need to remove the slack and excess.

NOTE.
once you have fitted this mod to revert back to the OEM idlers you will require new belts to fit.

please follow the standard Voron Print Setting

4 x perimeter

5 top / bottom layers

40% infill

Material - ABS / ASA

Print Files have been laid on a V0 bed so simply download, slice and print!

After Printing the parts out check that the PINS fit into the centre holes.
these should be a good press fit but not to tight that you struggle to get them in without a lot of force.

Installation.

assuming you are retrofitting this mod…

• push the Pin into the centre hole of the Lower part
• add the bearing stack ( 1 x washer - 2 x bearings - 1 x washer )
• press the upper onto the PIN
• add the two M3 x 35 BHCS screws
• fix back into place on the frame
• make sure the bearing stack rotates nice and freely ( any binding here will cause problems )
• add belts and tension as required
