Orchids are lovely plants that many love to keep in the home, but growing them in pots can cause issues such as root and crown rot from too much water trapped in the pot. Orchids are epiphytes, meaning they naturally grow on the side of trees. While many simulate this environment by mounting orchids on wood slabs, these slabs can grow mold or other fungi.
To combat this issue, these 3D-printable orchid mounts were designed. These mounts can be connected using the pins provided, allowing a single mount to be expanded for whatever orchid will be mounted.
These mounts can be placed on a tube-based rack system (parts included save for aluminum tubing) that allows the orchids to be hung in a condensed space. This system also allows for individual racks to be easily removed for watering or maintenance purposes.
A hanger is also included to allow orchids to be hung on window trim. The hanger has holes on top for small nails to be used.
All long tubes used have an OD of 0.5in. These can be purchased at a local hardware store and can be cut to length as desired.
Don't want to assemble an entire cabinet? Check out the table stand that can support a single orchid. See the image above for safe Center of Gravity (C.O.G) locations to avoid the orchid falling over.
