Product Info

If you enjoyed The Lord of The Rings, you probably wanted to have all the cool weapons and staffs in the books and in the movies. This right here is the staff of Gandalf the White, designed specifically for your ability to assemble and take apart. With the benefit of multiple pieces, you can also add more or take less pieces depending on your desired height for your staff. The mechanism is a twist-lock connector not requiring tape, glue, or other pieces.

Printing Guide

At normal scale, I printed the staff out over the course of 4 days just printing 5 pieces total. Fair warning, the pieces at normal scale are 13 INCHES Tall.

(3 middles, one bottom, and one top) This was designed to fit on my Anycubic Kobra max printer volume, so you might want to change its size.

You may scale the models equally in order to print on a smaller printer, but I warn you that the smaller you go, the more likely it may cause it to fight while assembling.

If you are likely to print this, please note that the staff must have a good wall perimeter and infill for best durability. For the infill, I used 5-10% and graduated infill for a conventional durability and filament conserving ratio. Horizontal perimeters are 5 layers, and 5-10 vertical perimeters (I broke many pieces when testing this part, until I found about gradual infill). Use organic support for easier cleaning. You are totally free to use paint on supports around the base of the bottom staff piece for extra stability as well.

If there are any imposing problems with your staff, try extraneous cleaning, filing, or reprinting before you report, since the staff is designed to be relatively firm and have little gap space between the pieces.

Assembling

The design for connecting the pieces is a counter-clockwise twist-lock system. (Sorry, I hope to fix this!)

Put two sections together, aligning the tracks, slide, and twist. The gap between each piece should be very thin or non-existent, and taking apart is reversed.

Wield the power of Gandalf! I hope you enjoy this model.

Update 4/29/2024

I printed out the staff to check all staff parts, the bottom piece was loose, and I went to check it out. The problem is resolved on the design, for the purpose of better firm grip and tightness. Please report any problems with performance and assembly if you find them.

Update 5/31/2024

Added photos (finally). Now you can see that it works.

Update 11/21/2024

I made shorter lengths (Alt Files) as I noticed that most printers would rather die than print a staff correctly (including my own). So please feel free to use these pieces.
