This modular 3D-printed spool holder is designed for flexibility and stability.
Using 40 mm diameter tubes cut to your desired length, you can create a fully customizable system that fits most filament spools — from standard 1 kg rolls to larger formats.

Assembly is quick, sturdy, and adaptable: add or remove parts as needed for your workspace.
A clean, modular look makes it perfect for workshops or print farms.

🔹 Assembly & Setup

1. Tubes

Use standard tubes with an outer diameter of 40 mm.

Cut them to your preferred length.

Example: ~60 cm for a typical setup (longer possible depending on tube strength).

2. 3D-Printed Parts

Print the top and side connectors designed to securely hold the tubes.

Ensure that pins and holes align for a tight fit.

3. Optional Rear Tube

For added stability, a rear support tube can be installed to prevent spools from slipping backward.

If not required, simply omit it for a lighter, open design.

4. Spool Compatibility

Designed to fit most standard filament spools.

Larger or non-standard reels may require minor adjustments or careful placement.

🔹 3D Printing Recommendations

Material: PLA or PETG for strength and rigidity.

Layer height: 0.2 mm (balance of detail and speed).

Infill: 20–30 % for sufficient load capacity.

Supports: Only required for the top pins and bottom holes to ensure proper alignment.

Bed adhesion: Brim recommended for longer parts.

🔹 Updates in Version 2

Rear tube removed – simplified design for easier assembly and lighter setup.

New top piece added – alternative configuration for more flexibility and compatibility with different layouts.

🔹 Use Cases

Organize filament spools efficiently in your workshop.

Adapt the system to different spool widths by changing tube length.

Keep your 3D-printer area tidy and functional.

Ideal for print farms, makerspaces, or DIY setups needing flexible storage.

💡 Tip:
PETG offers the best balance of strength and impact resistance, especially for long tubes or heavy spools.
PLA works perfectly for standard setups and lighter filament rolls.
