This is a bracket that mounts on any standard 3030 T-slot rail, with a T-nut and a M5 bolt in the back. You can attach a common Arca-Swiss adapter plate to the front using a ¼-20 socket head screw with a washer.
I designed this because I was not satisfied with the stability of the bracket that Valoi provided with their copy stand--the tolerances were too loose and the bracket was not tall enough to prevent twisting and shake. This bracket fits the 3030 rail snugly and has a longer “tube” section that will hold the camera still. My version holds the camera about an inch closer to the column as well, for stability; that can be adjusted in the model.
The Arca-Swiss adapter was a cheap one I bought on Amazon.
I have included the FreeCAD model so that you can modify this to meet your needs. There is a spreadsheet that has all of the important numbers, so tweak them there. You can definitely modify the dimensions of the well that holds the Arca-Swiss plate so that it matches your own.
If you wish to make changes to the model, I have taken care to add the fillets and chamfers last so that you can easily remove them before tinkering with the model, avoiding the standard headaches such features cause in FreeCAD when changing things.
I printed the original test pieces (sea foam) in PLA, but as I wanted to limit creep, I printed the final product using Prusament PETG.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
