Japanese castle model made heavily referencing Matsumoto Castle and Himeji Castle. I chose to only model the keep as this project already took longer than expected. The model is 140mm tall and uses about 200g of filament if printed with 3 perimeters. The combined print time of all parts is about 36 hours on I3 style machines.

The filament colors I used are HATCHBOX White PLA, HATCHBOX Gray Blue PLA, and Paramount Military MBT Brown PLA.

Recommended Print Settings:
  • PLA
  • .10mm Layer height
  • .20mm First layer height
  • 15% Grid pattern infill
  • Supports not needed on any part
  • .2mm Elephant foot compensation

As I have not tried scaling it I don't how well the parts will print/fit if scaled. Scale parts at your own risk!

Assembly

You will need to print one of each part contained in the zip file with exception to the locating pins of which you will need 20.  The locating pins only lightly hold the parts together and are mostly intended to center the parts. Consequently, you may want to glue the parts together. To assemble it start from the bottom and work your way up. Start with the base and press two pins into it then seat the next part atop it. Continue by adding two pins to the top of the assembly and adding the next layer until done.
