This storage slot was originally made for a UGREEN external case with fixed cable, however it should work with most modern external cases that got a centered cable.
The maximum dimensions for the external case to fit are 12.8 x 8.2 x 1.4cm. The USB plug mount is 1.8 x 1.0cm in size. Original .blend file is attached for your convenience.
The USB extension cable is being fixed in place by up to 4x M3 screws being held by the filament. I suggest using a cheap USB 3.0 adapter for USB-C → USB-A so you can just unplug it should you ever move your desk around or sth. The hole should again work with most extension cables too (thicker plugs like those from Amazon Basic cables would be more of a pressure-fit.
the model comes with 3D printed pins to connect the bottom and top pieces. These are fine even with PLA if you use a very lightweight external SSD; should you however use heavier vibrating HDDs you may use M3 screws and PETG (or better) instead!
Successfully printed (for SSD use) using these settings:
Two variants of the top part in case someone wants to use double-sided tape (Again, don't do that with vibrating HDDs!).
