NASsie - Raspberry Pi based home Network Attached Storage (NAS) running OMV 6.

This is the case for my home NAS called NASsie, it is a compact fully 3D printed case. It uses a Raspberry Pi CM4.

I needed a new home NAS to replace my old QNAP servers, so I built one using a Raspberry Pi CM4 with a CM4 IO board and SATA PCIe card. 

NASsie supports 2 '* 2.5-inch drives and 2 '* 3.5-inch drives. The case is completely 3D printed. This is by far the biggest most complex thing I have ever designed and I don't have much experience with Fusion 360. Fortunately, my son is an expert and helped.

The printer needs to have a print volume of at least 235mmx170mmx135mm + brims. This is a big project to print. On my Prusa mk4 it took 922g of filament and 37 hours to print all the parts. Printing instructions are included in the model files' comments.

ToDo:

  • Base: fix the hole for the power plug (it is too big and off-center).
  • Base: fix the hole for connecting the base to the drive cage (it does not line up, so just screwed into the side)
  • Base: Make the drive cage mounts more robust
  • Base: Strengthen the left front cover embedded nut
  • Drive caddies: fix them so they don't fall out without a drive (only the SATA connector holds them in)
  • Drive case: create a drive cage with 3 * 3.5-inch drives
