Three part TOTEM BLE/USB case, modded for easier printing on fdm machines.

The original files print amazingly well with resin/sls/mjf process, but on fdm machines supports are required, and as a result the quality of the prints suffers, leading to either bad fitment between the bottom/top and the pcb of the keyboard, or a blemished top plate to mount our switches on.

This modded version aims to ‘fix’ that issue: all three parts can be printed without supports and with great results.

Overall the case feels very solid when assembled, and it pairs really well with eiga's minimalistic MOTE choc keycaps.

Full build guide for the TOTEM as well as a BOM, with the required hardware used to secure the printed parts available on GEIST's github.

Updates

  • 12/12/24 - added bottom plate files soldered builds, top variation with M2 inserts

    • bottom plates for BLE/USB with cutouts for soldered switches

    • no logo variation for the BLE/USB top parts, without top screws, and M2 heatset inserts (8x 3.2mm OD, 3-4mm L, aliexpress; 8x M2x8mm countersunk screws required for assembly, aliexpress) instead of standoffs

  • 06/07/24 - added files for usb/trrs version of the totem

  • 23/05/24 - fixed inconsistent wall width for left/right top parts

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • split the top part and the integrated plate into their own respective components, with snap fit joints to keep the battery cover secure.
  • enlarged cutouts where additional clearance was required for a perfect fit
  • offset outer wall for better slicing with 0.4mm nozzles
  • added a top part variation with the logo removed (forgive me geist), for cleaner prints (og logo and an enlarged by x1.5 factor logo available)
  • screwless top variation that uses M2 heatset inserts in the top parts instead of standoffs
  • bottom plates for builds with soldered switches that also require cutouts, which are not present on the original design
