Prusa XL FlexMount Side Mount - Flexible Mount allowing different setups for attachments such as Web cams etc. Specific setup here was with an ESP32-CAM.

Materials Required:

  • x1 M5 T Nuts for 3030 Rail
  • x5 M5 Bolts 12mm length
  • x1 M5 bolt or screw – 20 or 24mm length (Hex or Phillips head)

Optional Materials Required:

  • More M5 T Nuts for 3030 Rail (for zip tie mounts to run cable)
  • More M5 bolts (for zip tie mounts)

Components and other materials: 

  • Power cable for ESP32-CAM
  • x1 ESP32-CAM module
  • a way to program the ESP32-CAM
  • Zip ties

Printed Parts Required: (for Left Mounted ESP32-CAM)

  • x1 FlexMount Logo Left
    • “load” XL Text Left onto Logo in slicer for multicolor
    • FLXMNT Text Left onto Logo in slicer for multicolor
  • x1 SideBlockLeft
  • x1 SwivelBlockLeft
  • x1 ESP Case Left Side Standoff
  • x1 ESP Case Back

Printed Parts Required: (for Right Mounted ESP32-CAM)

  • x1 FlexMount Logo Right
    • “load” XL Text Right onto Logo in slicer for multicolor
    • FLXMNT Text Right onto Logo in slicer for multicolor
  • x1 SideBlockRight
  • x1 SwivelBlockRight
  • x1 ESP Case Right Side Standoff
  • x1 ESP Case Back

Optional Printed Parts:

  • x# Zip tie mount

Printing suggestions:

  • 0.2mm Layer height
  • 0.4mm nozzle
  • PETG or can use PLA
  • Some models may need to be re-oriented (photos show correct orientation)

Install Suggestions:

  • Connect as seen in photos. 
  • The side blocks are the non-threaded variants of the swivel blocks.
  • When going to thread the bolts; First, thread the bolt in and then remove the bolt. This will help with cleaning up the threads to accept the bolts easier when doing final assembly.

Software:

  • I used a slightly modified ESP32-CAM example file. If interested I can upload that. Otherwise, there are plenty of tutorials on the ESP32-CAM.
  • Plan to eventually create code tailored for this project when I have the time.

Future:

  • I have a few ideas that coincide with this design; I plan to work on add-ons.
