Intro
I really wanted a better cooling but without sacrificing the visibility to the print head to see how is going the first layer also lately I’ve been doing some multicolor prints and Taurus or other versions were not very handy.
First I tried for a backflow solution but as found out the restrictions are too big and the only solution would be to cut out from the x print length witch it is not a good one.
If it is not front, not back, remains the sides. However, the sides have cooling as well. Therefore, I distanced it so it has sufficient airflow.
First version was ok, main problem it was a bit too close to the x rail and the left up bracket was not working well
With the fans moved for a better position, some 3D magic and few tries later I was happy with the result, V2win was born.

Printing settings that I used:
PLA, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer, infill 20%
Left low br – no supports
Left up br – no supports
Left duct – organic supports only on plate and painted on the duct intake
Right front br – organic supports only on plate
Right low br – organic supports only on plate
Right duct – organic supports only on plate and painted on the duct intake
Print time: about 1h 30min

Parts needed:

  • 2x 5015 24v fans
  • 1x M2.5x20
  • 4x M3x5
  • 1x M3x10
  • 1x M3 nut
  • 4x M4x20
  • 4x M4 nuts

If you had, a Taurus or something similar using this two fans splicing might not be needed. If not you will need to splice the fans in parallel using the cut end of the original fan or if you want you can purchase a new connector for this, just make sure that the wires will be long enough.

  1. Starting from a stripped down extruder, no cooling fan and duct:
  2. Remove the touch sensor and replace the outer screw with M3x10 to be longer. Easiest way is to take the sensor completely out, put the screw on the screw hole and then fix it on the extruder
  3. Add the Left low br and the m3 nut. You can cut the small flap that leans to the sensor so it barely touches it. 
  4. Remove the screw that holds the cable guide place the Left up br on position and then put the new screw M2.5x20, optional with a washer.
  5. Next, mount the Right front br with two M3x5
  6. Mount the fans in the ducts
  7. Fix the fan and left duct with M4x20 and a nut just to hold in place not too tight
  8. Plug the connector into the board
  9. Set and fix the extruder into the carriage with the 2 upper default screws
  10. Mount the Right low br with two M3x5
  11. Mount the fan and the right duct
  12. Adjust the ducts placement. Optional use one of position tool (as prints might vary position might vary and make sure that the blast of air is on the tip).
  13. Tighten all the screws, nuts and make a test run.

The photos are not exact with the model, the model used was a bit thicker and i had to use longer screws in some cases.
