This is a magnetic holder you can use to keep your tamper close at hand but out of the way. The bin is 68mm wide, and will accommodate a 58mm springloaded Normcore tamper, as well as more traditional tampers of any size.  There are two versions:

  • Lip - this style should fit the majority of machines that have a flat side and a flat top.  4 magnets are required for this style.
  • Hook - this style is designed for the machine I have, the Profitec GO.  This has a hook that will fit the profile of the warming tray of the GO and does not need magnets (but has holes for them if you want them).
  • Full - this style also includes a bin for a blind portafilter or anything else you want.  It takes 6 magnets.  Heavier tampers (like the Normcore) will make the bin slide down, but lighter ones will be OK.
  • Full w/Lip - same as above, but has a lip so it won't slide down.

The magnets are 15mm diameter and 2.7mm thick (sold as 3mm).  If you'd like to adjust the size of the magnet holes or anything else, the Onshape link is below:

For printing, PLA with 2-3 perimeters and 15% infill is fine.  Support is needed for the lip/hook, but a well-calibrated printer will be able to do the magnet holes without support.
