I needed to mount several mini-blinds in my basement windows, and I wanted them to be uniformly positioned. After doing some measurements of the brackets that came with my mini-blinds, and a few more calculations (to make it so that the blinds were all mounted fairly flush to the wall), I designed this simple tool to quickly mark or drill the desired holes for the mounting bracket screws.

NOTE: this tool is a 'proof of concept,' in that it works specifically for the brackets that came with my blinds (see photo), AND if one wants to mount the mini-blind's face flush with the wall surface face. The design would need to modified for other types of clips and for different blind positioning.

Steps:

  1. Measure and mark the window opening for where you want your brackets located.
  2. Hold the tool in place, centering the tool using the location mark and the center slot on the tool.
  3. Mark the hole locations OR skip the marking and go straight to drilling holes directly with the tool.
  4. Install the brackets with the screws provided with the brackets.
