I designed this based in other similar mounts, because i wanted it to be in the left side of the printer so it needed redesigning to not crash with the tool head. I also separated the coupling from the shoe so other kinds of shoe can be made.

UPDATE:

  • Adjusted coupling length&height and added optional flexible padding for better stability.
  • Adjusted foot to fit better.

UPDATE 2:

  • Changed coupling to better fit the bed.

If the camera has a hinge (like the Logitech C920), i recommend keeping it closed so the vibrations are not accentuated. Even if it vibrates the effect will mostly fade away when the video is accelerated to create a timelapse.

Print instructions

Padding is optional but recommended to reduce vibrations when printing (not tested).

Suggested material:

  • ABS or some other material that can resist maximum bed temperature (about 100C) for the coupling.
  • Recreus FilaFlex (shore 82A) for the padding
  • Anything else for the other parts.

Suggested print settings:

  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 0.8mm wall thickness
  • 0.8mm top/bottom thickness
  • 20% cubic infill
  • with supports (and check image for preferred upside orientation of the models)

I used ColorFabb XT-CF20 for my test (see photo), and it looks incredible, but its Glass Transition Temperature is only 85C so if you print with a hotter bed it will go soft and probably deform the coupling. ABS has a GTT of 105C which will work for any bed temperature supported by the printer, but it is hard to print without an enclosure.

Post-Printing

Hardware needed:

  • 1/4"*7mm tripod screw with maximum head diameter of 16mm to connect foot with camera.
  • Two M3*6mm screws + nuts to connect shoe with coupling and shoe with lever.
