I made a couple of tool tubes for my motorbike a couple of years ago out of two pieces of 90mm PVC storm water pipe.  Very economical.  The only problem is that it can be tedious/annoying to store and retrieve items from the end of a tube.

I decided to make a slide-in tray for each tool tube.  I cut a piece of the same 90mm stormwater pipe in half, end to end, to act as the tray bases.  My first one was using a hole saw on bits of wood and screwing the bits of wood to the PVC tray.  It was clumsy - but worked okay.

I then saw that you can use PVC cement to stick PETG to PVC - so I designed and printed a few end pieces and dividers and cemented them in place.

The bottom or base end is a full disc as I don't want anything going past it in the tube.  The middle divider has a gap at the top so that I can poke longer things through (like long cable ties).  The top end cap is only a half round, as it's the bit to grab when removing the tray.

I haven't had them in long, so cannot speak for their durability, but so far so good.

I recon I may even ditch the original wood and PVC one and re-do it with 3D printed dividers and PVC cement.
