Got a returned/broken RC car from a bin store. This is an MJX 1:16 scale Hyper Go buggy. The shocks tower (connects front shocks to frame) was broken. I printed a crude one from a not-to-be-mentioned printable model website, but wanted to design one closer to the original.
Worked quite well, I'm proud of it. Printed it in ASA (first successful print using ASA).
ASA is a PITA to print. I ended up preheating the bed at 100 and then printed pretty hot (100-105 bed temp then 270 for first layers then 250 thereafter). Still had some adhesion issues but it worked. Still dialing in my ASA printing. I think PETG would work too and might be easier to print. Works pretty darn well if I do say so myself. the shock-attachment hole is a tad small but if you use some force it'll go. Didn't want to skimp on material there since there's no nut (it threads into the plastic). I also increased the number of wall layers to 10 to give the holes a bit more material (may not have been necessary since I ended up doing 100% infill).
I printed it with the forward facing part (when it's on the RC Car) facing up, and used a raft, and used supports on the build plate only.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
