Update: 27.04.20. Missing print support added.

Description:

Lightweight Ender 7 replacement toolhead with direct drive extruder, integrated bed mesh probe, improved cooling and cosmetic appearance. Giving a clear view of the nozzle from above, perfect for watching the first print layer going down. Compared to other direct drive extruder set-ups it has up to 25% mass reduction with the removal of the aluminium 70g Ender 7 carriage bracket. Fully assembled mass of approx. 330g, almost matching the original Ender 7 bowden set-up for the toolhead assembly. So adding a direct drive extruder with no mass penalty, maintaining high speed print quality.

Features:

Bondtech LGX Lite, or Budget HGX self print, direct drive extruder

Choice of All Metal Hotends, as listed below.

Bambu Lab X1

Bambu Lab A1

E3D Revo CR

Creality Spider v3 Pro

Slice Engineering Mosquito

BTT/BIQU MicroProbe V2, or M8 inductive, Bed Mesh Probe.

The models on this page are for the Slice Engineering Mosquito hotend. See other the Crazylite 7 listings for the appropriate models for each hotend.

Square 2510 hot-end cooling fan

Single split flow 5015 print cooling fan, like the Voron Stealth-burner, but with much better cooling flow.

Increased X Y Print volume: X:262mm, Y:257mm, Z:285mm (300mm with 15mm gantry raiser spacer blocks)

Notes:

There is a choice of 4 toolhead mounts depending on which extruder, Bondtech LGX or Budget HGX & which bed probe, BTT Microprobe or M8 inductive probe you are using. Note I have not tested a M8 probe on this toolhead and can only advise on the Microprobe.

See the Crazylite 7 Common Parts listing for the remaining parts not found on this page.

See the Crazylite 7 HGX Extruder listing for the HGX direct drive extruder body gear housing parts.

A Build Guide Manual is currently being drafted out and will be available in the coming weeks. It will included more photos, printing guides, helpful tips, fasteners and materials required to make and install a Crazylite 7 toolhead on your Ender 7.

Important Notes before progressing.

The Crazylite toolhead uses the extruder stepper motor as a structural part of the toolhead carriage. Care should be taken to ensure the ABS printed parts attached to the stepper motor do not overheat & melt with the heat from the motor. Correct setup of the current supplied to the motor is essential so it never gets more than warm to touch. Set the extruder stepper max current to 0.6amps within Klipper if you have a suitable main controller board like a BTT Manta/Octopus/etc that enables you to set the motor running currents. On the original Ender 7 main controller board lower the stepper driver Vref voltage if the motor is getting too hot.

The original Bondtech LGX Lite extruder has recently been superseded by the new V2 version and has a two part body in place of the original four piece. Unfortunately the V2 two part body can no longer be used with many custom mounts as Bondtech has removed the ability to sandwich mount it with the motor.
Therefore I have created this model is a replacement rear extruder housing for the new version V2 LGX Lite. The rear is cut off to make it the same depth as the original V1 with the back plate removed and thus allow it, once again, to be sandwich mounted with the motor using the many custom brackets already available.
