Big Spools Be Rolling
Want to run 3kg spools with the official Prusa Enclosure? This design holds 3kg (and smaller) filament spools on top of the Prusa Enclosure with rollers riding on smooth roller bearings. Along with a Reverse Bowden tube inlet in the top of the enclosure to smoothly guide the filament.
Two versions of the filament spool holder and reverse bowden adapter are included. One uses M3 Heat Press Inserts (Voron size, link below), and the other uses leftover Square M3 nuts from the Prusa Enclosure hardware. Both install with M3x8 screws (also leftover from the assembly of the Enclosure).
Rollers print Support Free. They are designed to bridge over the bearing bore without supports. Ensure your bearing bore is free of dangling bridging filament before installing bearing.
See included photos for where the Spool Holder is intended to install and mount. Press a pair of 608 bearings into the Roller ends, followed by the “Roller Pegs” that go through the bearing centers. I recommend cleaning the grease out of your 608 bearings to allow them to spin smoother with lower effort. This will allow the rollers to spin freely without much detriment to bearing as they spin at such a low speed and load. Reverse Bowden Tube Adapter is meant to hold a PC4-M10 pneumatic coupler.
