Remixed two designs to come up with a 3D printable rolling knife sharpener that uses cheap Chinese sharpening stones.

Fully printable rolling knife sharpener that integrates the designs of two other authors into a seamless tight tolerance package. You must purchase @Cpt Cthulu's suggested bill of materials, which includes:

Materials needed:

  • O-ring 58mm AD 50 mm ID 4mm thickness, 2 times
  • 6806-2RS bearing, 30x42x7mm, 2 times
  • Neodym magnets 5x3 mm, 4 times
  • M3 threaded insert, 6 times
  • M3 x 10mm countersunk screw, 6 times

I ordered #240, #400, #1000, and #3000 grit diamond files, those are the standard grits are #240/#1000. I think the complete kit cost me ~$30 on aliexpress and a couple of very simple prints.  Compare that to a HORL at $130+.

I've included my .step files to follow both original designers' intent for sharing.  The Onshape Parts Studio is also available for others to modify if desired.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

I tightened up the tolerances on @GrafJM's model for the inner/outer roller, extended the length.

I added smaller magnets to @Cpt Cthulu's model to help retain the Chinese sharpening stones and removed the center threaded insert.

I've included my .step files to follow both original designers' intent for sharing.
