This is a housing for the 12 LED variant of this LED ring from amazon. It has slots for magnets, and I used those to attach it on the inside of my prusa enclosure.
to print I used regular PLA for the bottom and transparent PLA for the top.
When slicing the bottom make sure to put a pause command at the top of where the magnets should go (I added a 3mf file with the correct pause point). at that point put in 4 6mm diameter, 3mm tall magnets to each of the slots.
The bottom has a hold sized for a 3m heat threaded insert, and the top has a 3m hole.
You will need to solder in wires to the leads on the PCB. Then put the PCB into the bottom, layer the top on it, and then screw the pieces together with a 3m screw.
I used it with this plugin for octoprint and it was plug and play to get it working (just follow the instructions in the plugin page). I also tested it outside of octoprint, and it works just like a normal LED strip.
The wiring gets a bit messy because you'll be running jumpers about half a meter to the LEDs. I'm working on a V2 that uses usb port instead of just loose wires.
I haven't noticed heat being a problem but in the future I might want to cut a few vent holes.
