While it looks and functions really differently than the original, I wouldn't have even started playing with this concept without AxelC's model.
I had a version that was completely Print-In-Place (PIP), but to make things easier to tweak I split it into parts and added an end cap that glues in with a couple of drops of CA glue. The main gear is still PIP, and the assembly goes like this:
- Print the parts (everything but the “FullAssembly” file) and remove supports
- Manually turn the gear so the “jaw” piece is in the fully open position
- Insert the vertical rack into its dovetail slot and push it all the way up (turning the gear back to its starting position and closing the jaw)
- Insert the horizontal rack into its dovetail slot from the back
- Pull the bottom of the main gear away from the face of the part to give you enough room to slide the horizontal rack into its starting position with a couple of teeth engaged - see pictures
- Glue in the end cap, making sure to only glue it to the main body and not to either rack
- Tie a knot in a piece of elastic shoe lace or rubber band or whatever
- Tie another knot about 35mm away from the first one
- Slide the elastic into the lid so the knot is underneath the lid (the little ridged piece is on the top)
- Slide the lid into the main body and feed the knot through the hole in the main piece
- Slide the other end of the elastic into the slot on the vertical rack so the knot is trapped on the bottom of the plunger
- To load you can either completely remove the lid and elastic or shift the lid forward far enough to drop the Plackers into the dispenser
Push down on the thumb plunger to dispense a Placker.

The author remixed this model.
Differences of the remix compared to the original
Added ejection mechanism, redesigned lid, flipped function so Placker is presented handle-end first
