One half-sphere is embossed with the shape of the other so that it fits together like a jigsaw puzzle, so the correct position is assured and the joint is not noticeable when using the glue. The sphere is hollow and has two holes at its poles to fit with the spikes of the half-spheres. Thus the galaxy can rotate freely inside the cage like a globe.
A custom-made hole in a half-sphere serves to pass a ring easily.
