First off: Don't Be Stupid.


These are for practice only and will likely shatter if they were to actually ever hit anything. 

You absolutely must validate the strength of your prints!
If you don't know how to safely inspect/test nunchaku for safety, you shouldn't print these. 

You may need to print these a few times out of different materials until you find one that's strong enough. 

Settings I found that worked: 

  • I found TPU modified PLA worked well --less shatter prone than PLA or PETG; ABS, ASA, or Nylon may also work but I didn't test these
  • 5 perimeters with the outermost perimeter set to fuzzy skin for grip
  • 20% cubic infill
  • Hotend temp as hot as the filament would go without degrading 
  • Part cooling fan was set to outer perimeter & bridging only 
  • Printed one at a time 
  • 0.25mm layer height

To string them:

  • I cut the clip end off of a ziptie & gave the tapered section a bit of a curl
  • I then lashed the clipped end of the ziptie to 3/16in nylon rope using dental floss 
  • When the ziptie is pushed through the hole on the nunchaku, it'll wrap around and come back out
  • After stringing the nunchaku, I then tied a square knot (not a granny knot --google difference), trimmed & fused the rope, & hotglued the tail-ends to the loop
  • I then pushed the knot through the hole on the end of the nunchaku until it rested in the first larger cavity within the nunchaku end
