I learned in basic training that a barrel should be cleaned from the chamber.

However, more than 20 years later, I could not follow this basic rule. Because with the P322 from SIG the barrel is fixed, and thus the hammer is in the way to use a straight cleaning rod, even when cocked.

But it could go lower, leaving enough room to drive that rod through without bending or scratching anything. But how to push it down while pushing the rod…?

Here's the solution I came up with. Made out of PETG, this is a plate that fits into the guides of the slide. A cutout allows to catch the stepped side of the hammer when fully depressed.

Directions for printing are simple: Place the part with the lettering down onto the bed, so the tapers and stepped area face up towards the extruder - no supports needed. Print it solid. I used PETG but I guess other materials work just fine - you can test that assumption at your own expense… ;)

Costs with Prusament-PETG are about 2 cents…

My personal opinion? SIG should include such a tool with every 322 they sell. Stamped out of stainless 1mm-sheet-metal, there's not even a step or facet needed, thus the costs are negligent compared to the pistol…
