This is a set of files revised/updated for the Voronoi 3D-printed Stratocaster body as originally published by @lapwing_3d_prints on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5155017

The original files are pretty great, however, there are some issues with assembly when using parts that are more standard, such as the Fender vintage-style 6 hole tremolo bridge or the neck pocket depth, which worked for necks with a thicker than standard heel but not for others. I printed and built the original set of files, then made the revisions and tested them on another build, which proved to be a success.

All revisions intend to address issues with certain dimensions being too small for ease of assembly or to fit more standardized components. Revisions were made by importing the original meshes and changing geometry of the meshes, so files are not perfectly pristine.

Revisions:
  • Corrected tremolo claw screw hole angle, from upward to downward angle, now diameter=3.2mm
  • Change bridge spacing, now spacing = 2 1/16" (52.3875mm), 10.4775mm hole to hole
  • Increase bridge screw hole size, now diameter=3.2mm
  • Increase tremolo bridge routing 2mm rearwards for more tremolo bar travel
  • Decrease neck pocket depth, now 5/8" (for 1" neck heel, stock Strat/Tele)
  • Increase neck pocket screw hole size, now d=4.25mm
  • Increase button strap hole size, now d=3.25mm
  • 6 and 10mm peg lengths increased to 15mm, added chamfers for easier assembly
  • Healed outer surface of Body_LHS_Middle piece, original mesh had holes which lead to surface imperfections once printed and sliced

Parts to print:

Print settings:
  • 6-8+ walls (depends on nozzle size and if sanding/painting)
  • 6-8 top/bottom layers
  • Top-most surface ironing (recommended if sanding/painting)
  • 30% gyroid infill
  • Supports and settings for overhang performance will help printing LHS lower/middle/upper pieces
    • Increased overhang and supported skin fan speed (percentage depends on fan setup)

Non-printed parts to complete the guitar:
  • Fender Vintage-Style Standard Series Stratocaster Tremolo Assembly (or similar spec, 2 1/16" bridge mounting spacing)
  • Fender neck plate (or similar spec)
  • Fender pure vintage strap buttons (or similar spec)
  • Stratocaster type neck with 1" standard neck heel thickness
  • Stratocaster type loaded pick guard with SSS configuration
  • Stratocaster type jack plate

Assembly:
  • Refer to original upload at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5155017 for detailed assembly instructions
  • Highly recommend using SCIGRIP #16 Acrylic/Plastic Cement to join the components
    • This glue can be tricky to use as it reacts with the plastic almost immediately and gives almost no time for repositioning
    • However, the bond strength of this glue is best in class in my experience and the bond is as rigid as the plastic being joined, which is very important for tuning stability. Using epoxies with longer curing times and more flexible bonds will result in more deformation and creep of the material as the instrument is tuned to pitch.
