For this Flying Extruder Kit implementation I didn't use the classic sandows or spring way. In this setup the extruder is lifted with rectractables strings from a set of badge/key holders.
For my setup I'm using a DDG Extruder V1 by Triangle-Lab. This is a 100% compatible clone of Bondtech's BMG Extruder. I also tested this kit with a genuine Bondtech LGX (Large Gears eXtruder) extruder and its totally compatible. You can just replace the BMG Extruder with an LGX model.
A batch of badge holders like the ones I used for my setup was about 10 € the box of 4. I decided to use 6 badges to lift my extruder because DDG Extruder + pancake Nema 17 stepper motor is pretty heavy. With a lighter extruder and motor you could probably use 3 or even just 2 badge holders.
Also note that my Flying Extruder design can work with any Kossel or Delta 3D printer. The trick with the badge holder can be used in even more setups and probably with differents types of 3D printer.
A Flying Extruder with short bowden tube has better extrusion / retractation and can extrude rubber like materials, ie: TPU.
This reduce the weight on the head and the results I observed are :
