Are you building a nice big Multiboard wall? Great! Cool idea!

Boy, placing all the individual wall mounts is kind of a pain, isn't it? Measuring seems sketchy at best, placing them as you go is painful in various ways.

I made a jig to make it easier! Here is what I recommend.

  • Put up your first panel absolutely level. That is very important. Boy, if only someone had a Multiboard Leveling Jig! That sure would be handy right about now.
  • Print this. (You should probably do that first actually.)
  • Insert the two short pegs in the mounting holes (see photo).
  • Grab a drill bit that fits reasonably snugly in a 3mm hole (I used a 3/32" bit.)
  • Push bit through hole to mark the wall behind it. If you're feeling fancy, drill an actual hole.
  • Remove the jig.
  • Install your appropriate wall mounting hardware.
  • Install the appropriate Multiboard mounting parts, along with more panels.
  • Go back to the “insert the two short pegs” step.

Now, caveats:

  • This is kind of a prototype.
  • It should be more rigid. I will at some point make a more rigid version. (Perhaps you will do that instead! .f3d file is available, go wild.)
  • This works for 8x8 boards (it's 9x8, so you can skip to the next item properly.) It would take some tweaks to work on other sizes of board.
  • This also means that you kinda just have to eyeball it when you're doing the final column - this doesn't really help for that. Honestly, it should have two sockets on the end. Doesn't right now.
  • It's designed for the 8mm wall offsets. Again, it would take some redesign to use any other distance.
