A&A QuikClean Style 1 LOW FLOW Pop Up Pool Head Drill Jig (3 holes)

This is a A&A QuikClean Style 1 LOW FLOW Pop Up Head Drill Jig for drilling 2 extra holes in the head (for a total of 3). Due to the design it is tough to get a good line on drilling holes in these heads, so I made this jig to help me do it. It is a 3 part jig, with the base slipping over the head, then the pin goes into the existing hole, and finally the clip goes on to secure it. The clip can be further held with a zip tie but I didn't need to use it when drilling my Pop Ups with this jig.

I started the holes with a 7/32" bit and then finished it with a 15/64" bit which is the approximate size of the existing hole. The holes had to be cleaned up a bit, but were well centered.

UPDATE 5/8/2021 - I had to increase the holes to 3/8" diameter, and also removed a flow restricting plate from the head in order for it to operate at normal pressure. Still, having the holes drilled already, made it simple to increase their diameter without the jig. The flow restrictor plate was just a thin piece of plastic that sat over the base of the head (where water flows into it), and I just snipped it out with some scissors. With the restrictor removed and the holes widened, the head is able to function as a single zone, though the pressure is still a bit higher than the other zones so I may increase the diameter a bit more.

As with all tools, and especially ones that are printed, use this at your own risk. And if you do use it, please use with caution. Make sure your drill bits fit the guides (and that the guides are not worn out). And like Norm Abrams always says, always wear safety glasses.
