I don’t know about you, but I am firmly of the opinion that the problem with photos is that they’re a bit ... well a bit static. Never fear, Pointy has your back! I cordially present for your general edification, the “Wobble Photo Holder”. To extrude some life back into your happy snaps and selfies, just print it out, pop in your favorite (credit-card size) photo, place it on a suitable surface and give it a gentle prod. Happy times!

The holder is a push-fit design, wedges near the bottom of the center slot push prints on thinner material (for example business cards and mini-sized prints on standard photo-paper) into the "vees" between the hexagons in order to maintain a snug-fit. Thicker items such as credit cards are captured by the slot between the opposing hexagons alone.

Hints and Tips

For those slicing and dicing along at home, I would recommend employing a finer layer height, say 0.1 mm, to ensure that your holder’s oscillation is unimpeded by layer lines.

Having a hot air gun or abrasive material to hand in order to remediate a holder that adopts an off-kilter stance due to stringing on the base is also a prudent measure.

To have your holder adopt a more jauntily inclined repose, try adjusting the angle of the fill modifier (in the provided design the modifier is inclined by about 5 - 10 degrees).

Changing the fill density of the fill modifier appear to allow the rate and duration of wobble to be varied somewhat, albeit at the risk of a somewhat less balanced holder.

The extra weight of a credit card tends to make the holder top heavy. It works pretty well in landscape orientation, but if you are hoping to use the holder for heavier items (such as full-size polaroids or credit cards especially in portrait mode) then you may find that it is necessary to create an internal void (as low as possible) to capture washers or nuts in order to act as a counterbalance.
