I made this bracket to easily attach a “thick” 40mm fan outside a Mikrotik Ethernet switch.
The switch has the classical mesh for a 40mm fan, but it's empty. In theory, I should have opened the switch case and put the fan inside, but, apart from the issue of loosing the warranty upon opening the box, I was lazy to remove the Ethernet switch from the rack.
For this reason, I decided to install the fan outside the case, “pushing air” inside. I confirm that it works, since I observe a noticeable temperature drop with respect to the fan-less configuration.
The bracket as 8 holes, 4 holes to attach the fan on the bracket and the other 4 holes to attach everything to the case of the switch.
