I didn't like the filament runout sensor location, leaves too much unusable filament, so I created a way to mount it on the hotend. I included left and right guide mounts, so you can move the spool to either side of the printer if you wish. The standoffs are named by looking at which side they will offset to by looking from the front of the printer. The base of the standoffs is notched to grab the small threaded protrusion of the spool holder for ease of alignment.

The sensor itself needs to have the rear mount plate removed, then use the same two screws to attach it to the new mount.

All printed at 10% infill with no supports. I used PETG, but PLA should be just fine.

4ea 3mm x 10mm socket head screws. 2 for the hotend mount, 2 for the guide mount

The sensor wires come out of the frame easily enough, the protective cap that is inset in the rail pops right out. You can even use an Allen wrench for a little bit of leverage if needed. Just slip it under the cap and slowly pull up. I am routing the sensor wires with the hotend bundle via a cable chain. I'll update with pictures when I get that mod finished. Edit 2: I added another version of the standoff that will make filament swapping easier. Now you can move the bowden tube over and feed the new filament without juggling rolls. Also added a small bit of material to the sensor mount for stiffening purposes in v2. I had noticed a little bit of flex in the mount arms and wanted to counter that if possible.
