Yet another 'in case of' case. This was created to present to a member of our 'Thursday Night Pickleball Club' who can be a little loud. Thus, I created the following ‘In case of’ case to contain a pair of ear plugs. This was printed on a Mk4 with a manual filament change for the text and the white banding. The inner banding is a separate STL to allow for the contained item(s) to be sealed. I used a thin sheet of clear plastic for the glass and super glued both it and inner banding. The case has suction cups on the back to allow for hanging. I recessed the suction cups so the case would be as flat as possible when hung. After a bit of testing and prototyping (see photos), I settled on creating a stepped pocket (printed with supports that were easily removed) and designed mounting plates that are glued in place and will accept the suction cups.
For the suction cups, I ordered the following from amazon (not affiliated) and ended up using the smallest ones:
The text was adding using Prusa Slicer. I used Helvetica font, Height: 13.0 mm, Depth: 1.00 mm, Bold, and I might have tweaked the Char gap and Boldness.
Please see photos for my slicers setting. Though the key values for my print were: Lightning infill 15%, generate support material, support on build plate only, and organic supports.
BTW, when super gluing the clear plastic ‘glass’, I did get some fogging on the plastic on the inside. I was thinking there was a chance that would happen and it did. Not a biggie, but wanted to note it. In the future, I may come up with a better way to mount / secure the clear plastic.
