A few easy-to-print parts that will help you make use of your old filament spools to wind up your extension cords, Christmas light strands, and other things around the garage.

Print settings:

  • 0.25 or smaller layer height recommended
  • Handle requires “Normal” supports.  Use “snug” fit in Orca slicer with top/bottom gap of 0.2mm.

Handle attaches with two M5 nuts, and two M5x20 screws.

This can be printed on an Ender 3 style printer (220x220) but will use nearly the whole bed. But I did it and confirmed that it can be done without issue.  Just orient the “joint” pieces diagonally on the bed for fitment.

Pro Tip:  Use a drop or two of vegetable oil (or Super lube if you have it) on the threads and they will turn pretty easily.
