I designed this GPU fan adapter plate for the original XBox to allow you to use a 40mm fan instead of the loud and proprietary original fan. This will only work on the 1.0 version of the original XBox. If your XBox is a later model and has the larger GPU heatsink without fan, you can't use this (nor do you need it). Thanks to @LucasRNelson on Twitter for pointing out that my original Gamecube fan adapter was a pretty close fit to the XBox GPU heatsink. So this is technically a remix of my Gamecube adapter.
Install is simple: Attach a 40mm x 10mm thick fan (such as the Noctua below) to the side of the plate that has the posts and the fan will fit in the cutout. Sit the plate down on the heatsink and the fan will fit right inside the heatsink and the posts will rest perfectly on the fins. Use the original screws to secure it down to the heatsink.
This plate provides about 6 or 7mm clearance under the DVD rom.
