Example of a recessed duplex receptacle:

Print instructions:
Orient flat side UP
- hollow RECTANGLE on TOP
- hollow OVALS on BOTTOM
Slice settings:
- Thick Bridges
- 0mm/no bottom solid layers
- grid infill
- no supports (has built in supports)
Post print:
Remove the 1 layer thin supports around the outer rim and the screw hole
Install instructions:
Recommended: turn off power to the receptacle. Although you don't need to touch the wires, better safe than sorry.
- Remove existing front plate.
- Bend back the receptacle top and lower tabs. This allows it to sink into the back of the gang box.
- Push the receptacle back into the gang box. If there is not enough space in the back of the gang box, this will not work for you. (neither would store bought recessed duplex receptacles)
- Attach the center screw to this print and the receptacle
- Attach the two other screws on top and bottom.
- Paint the flat of the screws white if they're not white.
Why do I need it?
- kids
- cats
- if you think american plugs are inferior due to shock risk from halfway plugged plugs.
