I really needed soldering iron tip cleaner that sticks to my metallic desk. The base of the cap has 4 20x10x2
magnets from AliExpress (although in reality mine were 19x9x1.7
), which the model accounts for. Included is a parametric Fusion 360 sketch so that you can adjust the dimension accordingly.
I used PLA, but if I had any I would have chosen Flame Retardant ABS… or metal.
Print both parts separately to avoid the pause from producing a defect on the holder. Set the wall order to Outer/Inner to avoid exposing defects caused by the thread.
When printing, add a PAUSE
on the layer just before the magnet holes are sealed, so that you can pop in the magnets during the print and seal them in the cap. If your magnets don't fit, abort the print and use the Fusion 360 file to adjust the magnet holes to your desired dimensions, plus a small tolerance. If when embedding the magnets the holes are too large, consider using a drop of superglue so they don't rattle if they don't get sealed perfectly.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
