The Elecraft KH1 HF radio comes with a 2600mAh battery which is huge capacity for that radio that would for four or five activations easily with that QRP radio. If you are only going out for a single activation or two a smaller battery is more appropriate if you are looking to save some weight. This tray is designed to sit in that space for the stock battery and allows you to store a small battery as well as other things. You could store a backup set of head phones, a backup CW key or about any small item that you deem worthy. Shown in the photos of the tray is a low-profile 450mAh 3s lipo battery. Lots of others will work.
I recommend printing using PETG
Note, the stock battery just rests on top of the circuit board and so does this tray. One end of the board has a row of crystal filter that is the high profile spot on the board. I put a couple of small stick on rubber feed on the underside of the tray to keep the other side of the tray from resting on components.
