My requirements:
- simple workflow to load/unload filament
- possibility to manually push/pull the filaments to fix failed loads/unloads (yes it happens)
- weights guided during printing (and always tidy and at hand when unused)
- weights can be installed/uninstalled while filament is loaded
- whole setup attached to the enclosure (and therefore movable with it)
- quick and tool free disassembly of the printer
- reliable… hopefully
All parts printed in PETG except end-caps in TPU.
Needed furniture
Spool holders
- 24mmx24mm aluminum profiles for the spool holders main supports
- parts are provided for what I had in stock: 23.7mmx23.7mm square
- scale on X and Y to fit your exact dimensions
- x10 6001 bearings:
- inner diameter: 12mm
- outer diameter: 28mm
- width: 8mm
- M12 threaded rods as axles
- M12 washers, nuts and nyloc nuts for the spool holders assembly
PTFE tubes guides
- 10mmx1mm aluminum tubes
- x20 M4x5.7x4.6 threaded inserts
- M4x40 hexagonal bolts if you use the provided long-neck printed knobs
- otherwise any M4x20 bolts
Weights
- in case you want to use the weights guides:
- any ~4mm metal rods and build a hook out of them
- or as I did, hooks used for plaster ceiling suspensions (see photo
- otherwise any kind of weight should do the job
