!!!!!! It has come to my attention that not all 40T gears are the same. Some have a much bigger shoulder and are much thicker. I got mine on Amazon. link below. The wrong 40T has an option of a shaft up to 15mm, The cheaper version only goes up to a 10mm shaft. This is the one I am using  https://amzn.to/3vDLC9H or https://amzn.to/3UejRxY !!!!!!!

Thumper and Morrigan “Cheater” metal gear transmissions.

These transmissions are for people that:

  1. want to use a 540 motor. Brushed or (Fusion SE 1,200kv)
  2. want the greatest dependability.
  3. like to push the limits.
  4. experiment with high rpm or 3s setups.
  5. don't have printers that can get the 0.1mm accuracy needed for the printed gears.
  6. are utilitarian, no nonsense

The original transmission depends on printer accuracy. If the outer diameter of the gears are off by 0.2mm the belts will slip. These new transmissions use standard GT2 aluminum gears and belts making standard builds easier and more dependable. This also expands the possibilities in custom builds that use 540, 550 motors and or 3S batteries.

Reasons not to use these cheater transmission: A2, A540, B2, B540 These transmissions only have two belts. Overall they have much less friction. This sounds good however less friction means more rollback on an incline. The original four belt printed gear transmissions combined with a simple D3530 motor actually work well and have very little rollback. These cheater transmissions back spin the motor fairly easy. However, if you use a Fusion SE 1,200kv motor/ESC the setup not only holds very well out of the box, the slow crawl is amazing. Or you can do some advanced programming to compensate for roll back.

Note 1: None of the C or C2 transmissions are useful for rock crawling.

Note 2: The Morrigan build requires replacing 019BodyCenterLower found in the bottom of this parts list.

540 motors and 3S battery options:

540 The Fusion Se 1200kv and the Spektrum 2 in 1 1400kv have been tested and work well with these transmissions. All other 540 setups- You are on your own. The brushed motors have been tested for fit only.

3S Some builders have switched to 3S. At this time the models have not been altered  physically to accept 3S batteries. I have strong goals to properly fit the thin 168x47x25 3S battery in the Morrigan. (It is the long delayed Joker version of the Morrigan)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The A2 and A540 setups are designed for serious rock crawling. Top speed is a brisk walking speed. The A2 transmission is slightly higher ratio than the Original A transmission. The original A is (7.5 to 1).  The A2 and A540 are (6.25 to 1). The change in ratio is likely an improvement. The original A was a little too low range. (yellow Thumper) If using the Fusion SE 1,200kv I suggest B540

The B2 and B540 setups can still be used for crawling however give you some bashing speed. The green Morrigan in all the videos has always had a B transmission. The original B transmission is (5 to 1) The B2 and B540 are (4 to 1)

The B540 transmission combined with the Fusion SE 1,200kv makes the ultimate Crawler with a plenty speed to celebrate a good crawl with a little bashing. (Why yes!! This is my favorite setup!)

The C2 setup Basher! This is NOT a rock crawling setup. It is a fast, hard pulling workhorse. The original C is (1.86:1) This C2 is (2:1) This motor has been used on skateboards to move people. (Honestly it is a bit weak for skateboards.) I use this setup for bashing, chasing the dogs,  long distance nature walks and pulling my camera box and other equipment. The Glade Runner videos are recorded 1.2 miles down a nature trail. The "C" setup pulls the Glade Runner there and back every time without any trouble. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________-----A2 Assembly video----

A2 - Crawler  Uses a D3530, D3536 or D3542  Flashhobby motors. Given the ratio, the D3530 1100kv flashhobby motor is recommended. Larger motors can be used yet you are not really gaining anything other than possibly lower motor temp. Lower kv is better unless you are ready to do extensive motor tuning.

A2 Parts:

Bearings: six - 5x11x4 / Gears: two - GT2 16 teeth 5mm bore 6mm wide / two - GT2 40 teeth 5mm bore 6mm wide / Belts: two GT2 116mm x 6mm wide / 5mm Rod - one - 64mm / one - 84mm

Screws: six M3 nuts / six - M3 x 12mm / two - M3 x 20mm / two - M3 x 30mm / six- M2 x 10mm

M5 washers - (You can use regular washers or thin friction reduction washers)

M5 - 10 normal or 20 thin - count may very
