So I wanted to build a compact all-in-one router + server solution for traveling, and this is the best x86-based mini PC I could find at the time being with all my requirements. Although the cpu never goes over 54C, the AsiaRF mt7915-based mini-pcie wifi card could get up to 70C with the stock bottom cover on.
I also came up with a solution to also accommodate a stripped down (pcb only) crucial bx500 2.5" 1TB SSD (compatibility with other ssd not guaranteed) friction fit to the bottom cover.

In the picture, the orange heatsink I used on the wifi card is 10mm high. I had to use a dremel to cut out the data part of the stock sata + power cable and used a Silverstone thin sata to get in the way of the heatsink.
