Remixed version of the original smartphone tripod to fit in a neat 2x2 Gridfinity form factor. I use this to mount my phone as a print monitoring camera, but it could be used as a desk/workbench webcam for any Gridfinity setup.
The original is here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6379306
The bottom half, and Screw C are redesigned. The Holder B has been made to be more beefy to avoid breaking. All files needed are included. I've included the original Holder B (thin) design to use for thicker phones that may need it, but recommend trying the regular version.
- Low infill is sufficient, but more infill may help depending on phone weight/size/CoG and make a more stable base for extreme rotation angles.
- Magnets will definitely help, but I got away without using them. The 2x2 base is pretty big so it is decently sturdy. YMMV depending on phone and what Gridfinity baseplate you use.
- Otherwise, print as you would with any other Gridfinity bin. Make sure to support the center column.
- To secure the phone, use 1-2 rubber bands wrapped around the Holder A & Holder B slots like in the photo.
- Screw A connects the Mount to the Holders. Screw B connects the Connector to the Mount. Screw C connects the Base to the Connector (yes, it needs to go in from the bottom and will fit under the Base.
